Academic and Intellectual

The International School of Helsingborg provides state-funded education for students aged 2 to 19 and teaches the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in English. The school offers four IB programmes: Early Years, Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). The IB Diploma Programme is a three-year track designed to prepare students for university, and it is internationally recognised in more than 160 countries. The IB continuum at ISH is internationally accredited and aimed at developing globally minded learners.

Arts and Creative

The IB Primary Years Programme includes arts as one of the six subject areas. The Middle Years Programme lists Arts (Visual Arts, Music, Drama) as one of its eight subject groups. In the Diploma Programme, The Arts is a defined subject group, with Visual Arts offered.

Cultural and Language

The IB language structure includes Language Acquisition with English, Swedish, French and Spanish, and Language and Literature with English and Swedish. ISH teaches the Swedish language and supports mother tongue language development alongside learning new languages. Across the IB programmes, language learning supports international mindedness and cross-cultural understanding.

Prospective students can shadow a Diploma Programme student to experience ISH firsthand. ISH also features student ambassadors who showcase what it's like to be in the IB Diploma Programme. The IB learner profile emphasises service as action, and the MYP includes Service as Action through community service to engage students with their community and environment. The PYP places an emphasis on collaborative, real-life inquiry, culminating in the Exhibition as a culminating experience for all students. The Diploma Programme core components include Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), alongside TOK and the Extended Essay (EE).

Leadership and Professional

The school provides a Career Guidance Counsellor to support university and career planning. In the Diploma Programme, students complete TOK, EE and CAS, which develop critical thinking, research and personal leadership skills. ISH's leadership and programme coordination are led by a team of programme coordinators and principals for each IB programme.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The MYP includes Physical and Health Education as one of its eight subject groups. The Diploma Programme's CAS component emphasizes physical activity and service as part of personal development. ISH's mission focuses on education for a better world and nurturing well-being and international mindedness among students.
