IEGS promotes intercultural understanding and respect as essential for twenty-first-century life. The House System fosters a sense of community and belonging through group activities, mentor time, assemblies and competitions. Education at IEGS trains students as world citizens who understand and respect different cultures and are encouraged to participate in local and global communities by helping those less fortunate.
All classes vote for two class representatives to form the School Council, which meets with the House Coordinator and Vice Principal. Leadership opportunities are provided through the School Council, the Student Union and related activities. In 2023, the IEGS Leadership Summit brought together class representatives from Sweden to develop organisational and leadership skills.
IEGS has a tradition of Winter Sports Day with activities such as skiing in Romme, ice skating in Kungsträdgården, a winter walk-challenge in Djurgården and indoor rock climbing at Kättercentret Telefonplan. An ice water challenge at Hellasgården in Nacka was also part of the celebration. Regular school attendance is linked to educational progress and the overall well-being of students, with pastoral care and access to extracurricular opportunities.
