Grönegatan 21, 222 24 Lund, Sweden

The Essentials

Katedralskolan Lund has 1,500 pupils, instruction in English.

Location

The school is located in central Lund, in the Katedralskolan block, bounded by Stora Södergatan, Svanegatan, Grönegatan and Drottensgatan. Address: Grönegatan 21, Lund 222 24.

Stages

Upper secondary (gymnasieskola) with four programs: Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet (SA) including a specialized track in History; Ekonomiprogrammet (EK); Naturvetenskapsprogrammet (NA); and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) with a preparatory year (PDP).

Additional learning support

An elevhälsoteam for each program includes a deputy headteacher, school nurse, a special educator, a counselor, and study- and career-guidance staff. There is support and adjustments available, and external resources such as speech therapy or psychology can be engaged when needed.

School day structure

Expedition hours are 08:00–15:00. The 2026–2027 academic year runs autumn term 2026 (Aug 18–Dec 18; 82 school days) and spring term 2027 (Jan 7–Jun 11; 96 school days).

Bus service

Travel funding and bus card options are available: students with a travel distance over 6 km within Lund municipality can apply for a travel grant; a new bus card can be arranged via the expedition for Lund residents for a fee.
Diving Deeper

Food Options

The school restaurant serves lunch from 10:45 to 13:15 in Building E (under the library), with three daily lunch options, including at least one vegetarian; soup, homemade bread, and a salad buffet are also available, and all meals are prepared on site. The café next to the dining hall offers sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, quark, yogurt, and occasional desserts; from autumn 2025 it will also sell simple office supplies. The restaurant is run by Meal Service, with class representatives invited to a meals council each term to help develop catering and reduce food waste.
Fees
Application fees

- No application fee is charged for admission to Katedralskolan. Applications to Swedish gymnasieskolor are free.

Tuition fees by year group (Years 1–3 / full programme)

- There are no tuition fees for any year group at Katedralskolan. Upper‑secondary (gymnasie) education in Sweden is provided on an avgiftsfri (tuition‑free) basis for students; therefore no per‑term or per‑year tuition charges apply for the standard programmes.

Billing schedule and payment terms (for any optional charged items)

- Because there is no tuition or application charge, there is no regular tuition billing schedule for students.
- Optional, extracurricular or third‑party charges (see “Other costs” below) are invoiced separately according to the activity's rules. For example, municipal cultural/music activity fees are invoiced per term (spring and autumn) after admission; the municipal schedule lists term invoices for those activities.
- The municipality's standard invoice/payment processes apply to billed items: e‑invoice (e‑faktura), autogiro (direct debit) and bank‑giro/bank transfer are supported; invoices include a due date and late‑payment handling (reminder fees). Payment must be made according to the invoice terms shown on each bill.

Boarding fees (if applicable)

- Katedralskolan does not operate an on‑site boarding (internat) service and therefore does not charge boarding fees. Students who need housing on their study location may apply to their home municipality for inackorderingsbidrag (a boarding/housing grant to help cover housing costs); that support is administered separately by the municipality.

Other costs or fees (typical items parents should expect and how they are charged)

- Optional municipal cultural or music instruction (Kulturskolan / instrumental lessons): invoiced per term. Current municipal tariff examples (2026 schedule) include: Instrumentalundervisning — Spring term SEK 1,180; Autumn term SEK 1,210. Instrument hire — Spring SEK 510; Autumn SEK 525. Choir and singing group, group class and other cultural activity fees are listed per term in the municipal tariff. These are examples of chargeable optional activities that may be relevant to students.
- Study trips, voluntary excursions and extra‑curricular activities: where participation is genuinely voluntary a cost‑covering fee may be charged up to the activity's self‑cost; such charges are billed per activity and must be reasonable and clearly specified. Compulsory elements of coursework that are necessary for completion of the programme are not normally charged to the student.
- Specific course items for certain vocational subjects (protective clothing, specialist equipment) or external examination costs where those items are optional or related to non‑mandatory elements may generate charges; any charge must follow the rules in the Education Act and Skolverket guidance.
- School cinema, cultural visits and similar small event fees may be charged at modest per‑pupil rates as set in municipal rates (example: municipal school cinema tariff listed in the tariff document). Printing, replacement ID cards or lost library items may incur modest charges according to municipal rules.
- Uniforms: Katedralskolan does not require a school uniform; there is no standard uniform fee. (Standard municipal practice for Swedish gymnasieskolor is that no uniform is required and no uniform fee is imposed.)

Refund information (for any charged items)

- Because the core education is tuition‑free, refund rules do not apply to tuition. For optional, invoiced activities (for example Kulturskolan/music lessons or paid trips), refunds and cancellation rules follow the activity's stated terms. The municipal tariff indicates that term fees for cultural/music instruction are invoiced per term and that a cancellation/withdrawal fee may be applied if the participant does not cancel within the prescribed time. Refunds or partial refunds (where allowed) are handled according to the activity's published rules and the invoice wording.

Fee payment options (how billed charges are paid)

- Municipal billed items (optional activities, instrument hire, excursion invoices etc.) are payable via the municipality's standard channels: e‑faktura (e‑invoice via internet bank), autogiro (direct debit where offered), and bank‑giro/bank transfer using the giro number shown on the invoice. Invoices include a due date and instructions; missed payments are subject to the municipality's reminder procedures and fees. Specific school‑level payment methods (for small on‑site purchases) may vary by activity and will be shown on the invoice or payment notice.

Summary (practical points for parents)

- No application fee and no tuition fee for any year group at Katedralskolan.
- Optional activities (music lessons, instrument hire, trips, cultural visits) can generate term‑based or activity‑based charges; the municipal tariff gives concrete examples and exact term amounts for cultural/music offerings.
- Billed items are invoiced according to the activity's schedule (commonly per term for municipal cultural offers) and paid through the municipality's invoice channels (e‑faktura, autogiro or bank‑giro).
