History
Katedralskolan, formerly Uppsala högre allmänna läroverk, is a municipal upper secondary school in Uppsala, traditionally founded 1246 and commonly referred to as "Katte." It is Uppsala's oldest known educational institution and one of Sweden's oldest schools. The present main building was inaugurated in 1869 with a royal ceremony. In 2019, renovation of the main building was completed, 150 years after the 1869 inauguration. Today the school is prepared for the future with modern laboratory spaces and well‑equipped teaching rooms, as well as inviting meeting spaces for students to gather.

The library has around 13,000 books, about 30 magazines, study spaces, and the librarian Kerstin who helps with information searches and book recommendations. The library is open from 8:00 to 16:00. In Skolon, students have access to NE.se, Alex, Landguiden, EBSCO, Artikelsök and Retriever. Library catalogs include Welib, Bibliotek Uppsala, Libris, and the Uppsala University Library catalog; reference works include NE.se, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Alex, and Landguiden.

Arts & Creative
Extramusik on Katte offers choir singing and opportunities to perform publicly, including Christmas lucia concerts in the Cathedral and occasional major works such as Mozart's Requiem or Handel's Messiah with professional musicians. Kattemusikalen is an annual musical production where students take singing roles, play in the orchestra, or handle sound and lighting and perform in the school auditorium. Classes are in groups of about 15–20 students, and IMS is an integrated part of Katedralskolan; after IMS you may continue to a national program, another introductory program, or adult education. Beyond IMS, the gymnasium offers modern languages including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Japanese; English is taught; Mother tongue support is available. In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, the language of instruction is English.

Scholarships
Goethe-stipendiater VT2026: Theodor Holmberg HU25B, Hanna Lundmark NA25D and Karla Lindén Sagrén NA25B have been awarded Goethe-Institut language course scholarships and will spend three weeks in Edenkoben and Benediktbeuren in July. There they will receive instruction, participate in leisure activities, explore the surroundings, and meet peers from around the world.
