Mälardalen International School (MISV) is an IB World School in Västerås, Sweden, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 5 to 16. English is the internal working language, and Swedish language and culture are taught. MISV opened in January 2022 in Finnslätten and is the only IB World School in the Västerås region authorized to deliver both PYP and MYP. The school serves a diverse community with 23 nationalities and 26 languages, and 100% of teaching staff are IB-trained. PYP authorization was completed in November 2024 and MYP authorization followed in January 2025. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning, global-mindedness, and the development of lifelong learners to navigate global challenges. For 2025–2026, PYP fees are 50,000 SEK per year and MYP fees are 60,000 SEK per year, covering learning materials, daily lunch and snacks, and excursions. After-school care (Fritids) is available to age 12 and invoiced separately via Västerås Stad. Head of School is Maija Möller, with partnerships including Northvolt and Hitachi.

Admissions Criteria and School Fees. The 2025/2026 academic year fees are as follows: First child: PYP 50,000 SEK per school year (25,000 SEK per term); MYP 60,000 SEK per school year (30,000 SEK per term). Second child: PYP 25,000 SEK per school year (12,500 SEK per term); MYP 30,000 SEK per school year (15,000 SEK per term). Third child: PYP 12,500 SEK per school year (6,250 SEK per term); MYP 15,000 SEK per school year (7,500 SEK per term). Fourth child: PYP Free; MYP Free. MISV is an international school open for everyone. Note: Students enrolling in PYP 1 (ages 5-6) must be able to: 1. use the toilet completely independently; 2) participate in learning with the class; 3) transition between learning environments with the class, including putting on and taking off shoes and outdoor clothes with minimal assistance. After School Activities: Fritids. Families may register students up to age 12 to participate in Fritids, which is invoiced separately through Västerås Stad. If you withhold or provide inaccurate information, your child may lose his/her place at MISV.
