The Mentorship Programme connects SSHL students with the Sigtuna Alumni Association for lectures, workshops and study visits that broaden links to higher education and working life. The programme runs for one academic year and includes group activities as well as individual mentor meetings to answer questions about life at SSHL and future plans. SSHL also supports academic enrichment through clubs such as the Debating Society, the Design and Technology group, and the Chess Club, which develop argumentation, engineering skills and strategic thinking.
Estetföreningen arranges activities within the creative arts, including the Talent Show and the annual school musical. The Music Association – Musikföreningen – fosters musical engagement by organizing shows and providing opportunities to perform. The AV Club gives students hands-on experience with sound, light and video equipment to support school events.
Kenya Project and Life-Link are international projects at SSHL; Life-Link promotes sustainable living, and the Kenya Project raises funds for the Mama Norah Education Center. SSHL also hosts a range of clubs and activities that connect students with global and cultural experiences, including the Debating Society and Think Tank. Spread the Light works with Svenska Kyrkan to support the homeless and low‑income families, while The Peace Project addresses humanitarian needs arising from the Ukraine conflict.
The House Series provides an intramural tournament with sporting competitions and other activities between boarding houses. Weekends feature social events such as the school disco, movie nights and traditional activities like making gingerbread houses or treasure hunts. SSHL offers a wide range of recreational activities including both aesthetic activities as well as the physical, with day students having access to the same opportunities.
Kenya Project and Life-Link are international projects at SSHL that promote sustainable living and education. The Peace Project supports humanitarian needs related to the war in Ukraine, and Spread the Light is a philanthropic organization dedicated to community service and global awareness. Make a Kid Smile SSHL raises funds to support scholarships for children in Nepal and related projects abroad.
The Student Council provides class representation and regular meetings with school management to influence school decisions. Think Tank offers opportunities for student researchers to develop analytical thinking and gain PRAO experiences, internships and strong university admissions. Debating Society also supports public speaking and competition participation.
Life at SSHL includes an extensive extracurricular programme and opportunities to travel abroad. In your free time, there are opportunities to develop personal interests in sport, music, art, drama and more. SSHL is a Swedish boarding school and high school with an international outlook, situated along Lake Mälaren near the historic town of Sigtuna and convenient for Arlanda Airport. The school blends Swedish Gymnasium programmes for Years 10–12 with International Baccalaureate options, offering three IB programmes: DP, CP, and MYP, taught in English in the Diploma Programme while preserving a Swedish-language track within the IB and Gymnasium options. SSHL serves both boarding and day students, with eight boarding houses and a campus of 565 students (205 boarders). Facilities include a large indoor sports hall with basketball, volleyball and dance space, outdoor tennis and football facilities, rowing boathouses and a well-stocked library shared with the Sigtuna Foundation libraries. The not-for-profit Sigtuna School Foundation runs SSHL. A distinctive feature is its international projects and service culture, such as the Kenya Project and Life-Link, alongside a broad range of clubs and activities for students.
