The English School Gothenburg provides a modern learning environment designed to meet all subjects. The building is light, modern, clean and classrooms are calm. There is extensive technology with interactive whiteboards throughout to support learning. The school features a superb playground and is located close to a forest, with a short walk to nearby sports facilities used by older students. A major building program delivered this environment and technology, and any surplus funds are reinvested within the organisation to improve facilities and conditions for staff and students.
There are excellent sports facilities available to ESG students, used by older pupils for PE and sports activities. These facilities are within a short walk from the main campus. The campus also benefits from outdoor spaces nearby that support physical education and recreational activities. ESG uses nearby facilities for its athletic programs and sports days.
Renovations transformed the building to suit ESG's needs, producing a technically advanced school. The environment is light, modern, and well-equipped to meet all subjects. Year 5 competed in the Energikicken football competition. Many students took part in Göteborgsvarvet in various age groups. Older students have visited Ruddalen for orienteering tests. Both Year 9 classes have been climbing. The school holds several sports days throughout the year.
The English School Gothenburg is an independent, non-profit Swedish school founded in 1958 and based in western Gothenburg. It serves ages 0 to 15 and follows the Swedish curriculum with a liberal arts approach, delivering learning in both English and Swedish. Swedish National Tests are taken in years 3, 6 and 9 in Swedish and Maths, with English assessed in years 6 and 9. Class sizes are up to 24 students and teaching assistants are often on hand to support individual learning. The staff come from many countries, bringing diverse teaching practices to planning and enrichment. The modern campus features bright classrooms with interactive whiteboards and extensive technology, a superb playground, and easy access to nearby forests and sport facilities for PE and outdoor activities. The school runs a biennial Reading Challenge for Years 2–7, offers after-school music lessons, and hosts Nobel Day in the Creative Arts. Community initiatives include the Light of Peace trip to Vienna. Surplus funds are reinvested into facilities and staff development, with active participation in Energikicken, Göteborgsvarvet, and year-round sports days.
