In 1995, Rita Ahonen and Anette Parts opened the School with years 1–6 and after-school activities. They set up the Docendo Discimus foundation in 1997 to establish the best school in Sweden. They aimed to combine the best of Estonian and Swedish school systems to create an international concept, with a focus on languages and mathematics. In 2006 the School was separated into two campuses, with years 0–5 moving to Luntmakargatan and years 6–9 moving to Gotlandsgatan; in 2014 years 6–9 moved to Luntmakargatan and the English-speaking IB course was launched. Today the School remains an IB World School offering the PYP and MYP and continues to maintain high teaching standards.
The Vasa International School of Stockholm is located in Vasastan, central Stockholm, with around 400 students and a staff of 25 teaching and 25 ASC and other staff. The school offers two IB streams, the International Bilingual stream and the International English stream, with 21 classes from pre-IB to MYP4. The school is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme, and an active student community includes a Student Council, regular parents' meetings and a mentor programme, with ongoing parent–teacher communication via SchoolSoft and Google Classroom.
Vasa International School of Stockholm is an IB World School in Vasastan, educating 400 students aged 5 to 15. The school offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme in candidate status, with two streams: International Bilingual. The PYP follows six units of inquiry each year and integrates the Swedish national curriculum Lgr22, while providing English and Swedish language support and mother tongue resources. Facilities include well-equipped classrooms, a science lab, a lunchroom, a gym hall, a music room, a visual arts room and a library with around 8,000 titles in Swedish and English. The Annex at Upplandsgatan hosts Music and Arts for PYP 4–6 and MYP, and the Eknäs Gård farm offers outdoor IB learning. Notable features include language-rich programming, student voice through a Student Council, and inquiry-based projects such as PYP Exhibition and MYP Community Project.
