Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Bell was founded by Frank Bell, a University of Cambridge graduate, who taught languages inspired by wartime experiences. He taught prisoners during WWII and opened his first language school in Cambridge. Bell has grown into an internationally recognised, high-quality education business. Bell established its Geneva nursery, Bell Colombettes, in 1993.

Community

Educational visits occur at least once per half term; recent trips include Bioparc, the Natural History Museum, art exhibitions and theatre, and local professionals share expertise through workshops. Early Doors runs from 08:00–08:30 each morning, including a nutritious breakfast, active play and quiet creative activities. After School Club runs from 16:45–18:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with supervised activities. The School Restaurant Service with iSensi provides balanced meals, including vegetarian, vegan and allergen-free options.

Bell One World Nursery & Primary School is a British-curriculum, English-medium school in Geneva, serving ages 2 to 9. The Bell Colombettes campus in the Nations district offers Nursery through Primary, following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in Nursery and Reception, then progressing to Key Stage 1 (Years 1–2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3–4). The Bell Way, developed with an Emeritus Professor from the University of Cambridge, guides learning with six principles: a child-led, theme-based approach; learning inside and outside the classroom; and personalised teaching in small groups. English is the language of instruction, with French taught as part of the curriculum and a bilingual Nursery option available. The school emphasises sport as part of its arts and physical education focus and maintains small class sizes: Nursery 1:8 (1:6 bilingual); Reception/Primary 1:12 (maximum 12). Facilities include indoor spaces and areas with convenient access by car or transit in Geneva.
