Founded in 1956 by Leonard Wilde, Neuchâtel Junior College offers a world-travel integrated curriculum. The school is perched on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The founder stated that 'To be a leader today, one must travel the world,' a philosophy guiding NJC's program where travel is integrated with academics. Students explore Western European centers of civilization and visit diverse cultures to gain historical and cultural perspectives and to consider how they can contribute to host communities.
Extracurricular activities are organized by NJC and involve local high schools and other international schools; teams may compete in local tournaments and SGIS events. The Foyer Council leads student activities, and Model UN is offered with a select group of students attending a semesterly United Nations simulation. NJC students live in homestays with Swiss hosts, supported by a Pension Coordinator who stays in touch with families. The travel program includes mandatory and optional trips embedded in the curriculum to broaden students' exposure to European cultures.
Neuchâtel Junior College (NJC) offers a Canadian curriculum-based international high school program in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Students take Ontario Grade 12 courses in the final year or during a gap year to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, with credits from non-Ontario jurisdictions counted toward the diploma. The program is a pre-university year with small classes and a supportive learning environment, and it supports admission to Canadian, US and international universities. It emphasizes international immersion and French-language exposure by living with Swiss hosts and travel integrated into the curriculum. The founder Leonard Wilde believed, “To be a leader today, one must travel the world,” guiding the travel-embedded program. Facilities include a Neuchâtel campus on Lake Neuchâtel; the Ontario Diploma is complemented by a university guidance team offering one-on-one and group support. The Dr. Daniel Andreae Scholarship for Community Engagement provides CAD 30,000 toward tuition for 2026–27 for qualified, globally eligible applicants.
