It began by serving grades 1–9 as part of the Acton Academy network, which started in the United States in 2009 and had 300+ affiliates worldwide by 2022. In December 2025, the school announced plans to launch a high school studio for rising middle schoolers in Fall 2026, with a downtown location near Da'an Park. The campus is located at 1F, No. 167 Guangming Road, Beitou District, Taipei, and Acton Taipei is accredited through the International Association of Learner Driven Schools and approved by the Taipei City Government as an experimental education group; it is a non-profit foundation registered in Taiwan.
