With support from the Xing En International Education Foundation, Hankel International Academy was established to promote English education in Taiwan and to connect the next generation with the international community. The academy includes Shane International Kindergarten in Linkou (founded in 2020) and Hankel Experimental Elementary School (founded in 2022), which quickly became core parts of the Linkou community. In August 2025, Hankel opened the Junior High Division, expanding its educational continuum into middle school. In 2025, expansion plans were announced to construct a new educational building with modern classrooms, laboratories, and facilities to accommodate growth across elementary and junior high levels. The aim is to provide an international, multilingual learning environment that supports student development from early childhood through middle school.
The Hankel community is multilingual, play-based, and research-driven, spanning kindergarten through middle school. Learning emphasizes interdisciplinary projects and real-world inquiry, with a strong emphasis on fostering an international perspective. Public-facing events listed by the school show an active culture that welcomes families, including STEAM experiences, carnivals, and sports activities. Open House & Experience Camp events are used to introduce families to Hankel's programs and facilities.
A dedicated PTA page is not publicly accessible on the Hankel site; public information presents a profile of school events and family activities rather than a separate PTA body. Parent involvement appears to be organized through school-hosted events and family activities rather than a stand-alone PTA board. Public events include the Hankel 5th Anniversary Christmas Carnival, a Carnival recap, and other family activities. Other events include the G7 STEAM Immersive Experience and various STEAM projects, indicating an active parent and student community. Open House & Experience Camp is also used to engage prospective families. HIAPE Hankel International Academy in Linkou, New Taipei City, brings together Hankel International Kindergarten, Hankel International Academy of Primary Education, and Hankel Experimental Education Academy – Junior High Division. The Kindergarten opened in August 2020; the Primary program was established in August 2022; the Junior High Division opened in August 2025. The campus is located at No. 9, Ln. 25, Donghu Rd., Linkou 244. The school offers English-language education with bilingual options in the early years and English-based instruction for elementary and middle levels. The curriculum is described as multilingual, play-based, and cross-disciplinary, combining humanities, science, mathematics, and technology, with a focus on inquiry and project work. The Elementary curriculum emphasizes English and STEAM; the Middle School program adopts a flexible, competency-based approach and a global perspective. The aim is to prepare students to participate confidently in the international community.
