Academic and Intellectual

HIA provides several academic and intellectual activities beyond the classroom. The Extracurricular Activities include math club and chess club, along with yearbook and other clubs that foster cognitive and problem-solving skills. The Model United Nations program engages students in researching global issues, drafting resolutions, and debating with peers from across Taiwan. The school also hosts science fairs as part of events and offers summer and winter camps, with middle-school camps offering varied activities and high-school programs focused on academics.

Arts and Creative

HIA offers arts and creative activities as part of its extracurricular program. The program includes choir and dance clubs, and the yearbook club provides a platform for creative work. These arts-based activities offer students opportunities to express themselves and collaborate with peers outside the classroom.

Cultural and Language

Leadership and Professional

HIA develops leadership and professional skills through its Student Council, with on-campus elections and student-led activities that shape campus culture. Spirit Week is organized by Student Council and involves broad student participation. The Advisory Program supports personal and academic development, and university and career counseling assists high school students in planning post-secondary paths, including overseas options.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

HIA emphasizes lifestyle and wellbeing through its Physical Wellbeing & Sports program, organizing various sports teams and clubs to boost fitness, conditioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students have opportunities to participate in competitions and inter-school games and tournaments. In addition, Summer and Winter Camps provide additional structured experiences outside the regular school year, with middle-school camps offering varied activities and high-school camps focusing on academics.

Hsinchu International Academy (HIA) offers a K–12 American curriculum from grades 7–12, including Advanced Placement courses and EAL support. The school was co-founded in 2022 by Dr. Jack Huang and Dr. Jase Lau under the STAR Korrnell Education Foundation and is part of the STAR Korrnell Education Group. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and operates as an Experimental Institute. HIA provides Middle School and High School programs with a focus on critical thinking, communication, digital literacy, personal development, and college preparation. The campus is newly built and technology-rich, featuring a Lecture Hall, Science Laboratory, Art Studio, Indoor Gymnasium, and Dance Studio. On-site IELTS, SAT/PSAT prep, and college fairs support global post-secondary ambitions. The school emphasizes English as an Additional Language through dedicated EAL staff and maintains an EAL portfolio, with language development aligned to WIDA and California ELD standards. Chinese language and culture are integrated.
