Hsinchu International Academy (HIA) was co-founded in 2022 by Dr. Jack Huang and Dr. Jase Lau under the STAR Korrnell Education Foundation. HIA is part of the STAR Korrnell Education Group, which was founded by Dr. Johnson Huang in 2007. Dr. Johnson Huang is also the founder of the Ton-Yen Healthcare Group, which started Ton-Yen General Hospital in Zhubei in 1995. HIA operates as an Experimental Institute and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The STAR Korrnell Education Group aims to provide high-quality bilingual education and prepare students to become future leaders.
Community outreach is a core component of HIA's student life. The school offers many opportunities for students to engage in community outreach activities, partnering with non-profit organizations at local and international levels, including World Vision Taiwan, Genesis Social Welfare Foundation, and Lions International. HIA also collaborates with healthcare affiliates Ton-Yen General Hospital and the Taiwan IVF Group, offering in-hospital volunteering opportunities. The Life Education program underpins the school culture, developing self-awareness, empathy, leadership, and responsible global citizenship.
There is no publicly documented PTA in HIA's public materials. Parent involvement appears to be supported through community outreach and volunteering programs, rather than a formal PTA. The Community Outreach program partners with World Vision, Genesis Social Welfare Foundation, and Lions International. HIA also coordinates in-hospital volunteering opportunities with Ton-Yen General Hospital and the Taiwan IVF Group. School events and News & Events posts illustrate active family engagement in campus life.
