KCIS is part of the Kang Chiao education family in Taiwan. The Xiugang Campus site was finalized in late 2000, with preschool and elementary programs opening in 2002, the junior high added in 2004, and the senior high established in 2009, completing a full K-12 pathway. In 2007 a new Qing Shan campus was purchased and the preschool and elementary were relocated there in 2010, while KCIS established its international school program in 2009 to serve local and expatriate families seeking overseas study. The network expanded with the Linkou Campus (groundbreaking in 2017 and opening in 2018) as part of KCIS's growth, and in 2024 both Xiugang and Linkou earned accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Leadership through these years has included figures such as Superintendent Chang and Chairman Mike Lee, guiding KCIS's emphasis on bilingual, globally oriented education.
KCIS maintains an active student community across its Xiugang and Linkou campuses, with a broad life program that includes 159 clubs at Xiugang. The school runs experiential programs and cultural events, including the four Dream-Building activities such as climbing mountains, swimming Sun Moon Lake, and cycling the coast of Taiwan, along with related projects like Dream of Snow Mountain. Community events have included online cultural exchanges with students in Japan and Palau (2020–2021) and participation in local events such as the New Taipei City Choir Competition in 2019, as well as hosting LINMUN conferences.
KCIS Xiugang campus maintains a Parent-Teacher Association structure to support parent engagement through a class-level Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC) arrangement. The school hosts class-parent meetings (班親會) to help parents understand teaching approaches, student support, and classroom plans, and to provide feedback. The PTA coordinates the election of class parent representatives and facilitates ongoing communications between families and school staff. For the 2025–2026 school year, the Xiugang campus scheduled a class-parent meeting on September 20, 2025, at the Xiugang campus to facilitate direct interaction between parents and teachers. PTA activities aim to foster collaboration, inform parents about school events, and gather input on school programs, within KCIS's broader governance framework.
