Students also compete and perform with peers from other international and local schools through these clubs.

Arts and Creative

Performing Arts at KAS includes music from elementary through high school, with opportunities to participate in choir and orchestra after school and to perform for the school community. The MYP Theatre program (grades 6–8) emphasizes improvisation, character exploration, ensemble work, and language development through performance. The Visual Arts program offers drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, digital media, and more, with dedicated studios and gallery exhibitions. The high school arts program also features artist visits, workshops, and field trips, along with student-led art clubs such as Charity Art Club and Charrette Club.

Cultural and Language

World languages include MYP/DP Spanish through the World Languages department, and a Chinese language program with tracks for native learners and language learners. Performing arts exchanges provide intercultural experiences with artists from around the world. High schoolers may travel abroad for experiences like the International MUN Conference in The Hague or regional volleyball tournaments in Japan.

Social and Hobbies

Student-led clubs cover a wide range of interests beyond academics. Elementary after-school clubs exist, while middle school and high school clubs are integrated into the daily schedule. Club themes include Robotics, Chess, Spectrum, and Art for Charity. Students also perform on stage at local venues and compete with peers from other international and local schools.

Community and Service

Service learning is central to KAS, with programs that place students in meaningful community activities and trips. The Future Leaders Program matches high school students with professional mentors in local Kaohsiung businesses for internships. The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society provide service and leadership opportunities for high school and middle school students, respectively. The school partners with local organizations to expand opportunities for service and collaboration.

Leadership and Professional

Leadership development is supported through the Future Leaders Program (FLP), which offers internships with mentors across fields such as medicine, environment, academia, and business. NHS and NJHS provide service leadership opportunities for students; Advisory and student-led clubs also foster leadership by organizing activities and partnerships.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Physical education is an integral part of the KAS curriculum through grade 9, promoting lifelong fitness. Competitive sports include swimming, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more, with seasonal schedules for middle and high school and additional club sports for younger students. In middle school, Advisory and BIG Time provide weekly activities, enrichment, assemblies, and focus time to support social-emotional learning. Envision Formosa offers a signature middle school outdoor education experience that emphasizes leadership, service, and real-world learning beyond the classroom.
