Kaohsiung American School offers inclusive education with a Student Support Team comprising teachers, specialists, and administrators who support access and inclusion through collaboration and differentiation. Learning Support is provided by a team of learning support teachers and assistants offering in-class push-in support, small-group or 1:1 instruction, and modified curricula, with Elementary having dedicated Learning Support Coordinators (e.g., Sil Lee). The EAL program supports language development and places students into an appropriate class with the least restrictive environment. For more intensive needs, the School contracts external specialists, including Educational Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists, Speech Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. Kaohsiung American School (KAS) is a private PreK–12 international school founded in 1989 in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It delivers American standards-based curricula alongside the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, with English as the language of instruction and Chinese taught as a national language option.
