IB World School authorizations (MDID offers the IB Middle Years Programme, the IB Diploma Programme, and the IB Career-related Programme). DP authorization was granted in May 2018, MYP authorization in January 2019, and CP authorization in 2023; MDID also completed its first MYP/DP evaluation in 2023. MDID positions itself as an IB World School, with curricula aligned to IB standards and delivered primarily in English. The program also adheres to Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE) requirements. MDID is explicitly noted as the only IB school in central and southern Taiwan authorized to offer the Career-related Programme. These IB accreditations and MOE alignment establish MDID as a recognized IB World School operating under IB and MOE frameworks.
KidWind Challenge in Asia (December 2023): MDID students achieved 2nd place, 3rd place, and an honorable mention in the high school division. This reflects multiple podium finishes by MDID teams in a regional wind-energy competition. MDID Debate Club (November 2025): MDID's debate program earned 2nd place at the Asian Debate League / NSDA Tournament, with the team advancing to the championship round. MDID Debate Team (November 2025): MDID won the championship title at the Peach State Classic, with the tournament champions identified as MDID students. These awards illustrate MDID's competitive success in inter-school activities.
Mingdao High School International Department (MDID) is the international arm of Mingdao High School in Taichung, Taiwan. It delivers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP). MDID was established in 2012; DP authorization was granted in May 2018, MYP authorization in January 2019, and CP authorization in 2023. Classes run on a semester system with 50-minute lessons across eight blocks in a five-day cycle, and instruction is delivered in English with Chinese and a second foreign language taught as part of the curriculum. The language of instruction is English, and MDID offers a second foreign language program including French, Spanish, German and Japanese, alongside Chinese language study and English language/Literature. The department is committed to a holistic, globally minded education and supports strong university pathways and a broad programme of co‑curricular activities.
