Taipei Kuei Shan School was established in August 1963 as a small private K-9 school in Beitou, founded by Professor Hsiong Hui-Ying as an experimental approach to education. It operated as a private, nonprofit institution funded by tuition and grew from its experimental roots, emphasizing smaller class sizes and strengths-based development. In 2002, the school launched a Chinese-English dual-language immersion program starting with first and second grades. The school earned IB World School status with authorization for the Diploma Programme on March 1, 2015; the Primary Years Programme on May 1, 2015; and the Middle Years Programme on April 25, 2016. Today the campus sits at the foothills of Yangmingshan in Taipei and the school remains private and nonprofit, accredited by the Taipei City Government and affiliated with the Association of Christian Schools International.
Taipei Kuei Shan School serves a lively campus community of around 600 students, with a mix of Taiwanese and international students (roughly 76% Taiwanese and 24% from 20 other countries). Daily devotion in homerooms and a monthly chapel are part of student life, and participation in these activities is not restricted by faith. The school hosts a calendar of community events such as Winter Festival, Performance of Praise, Christmas Carol, Commencement, Week Without Walls, Scout Day, Career Day, National Day Celebration, as well as DP VA Exhibitions and PYP Music Shows, which bring students, families, and staff together. The school's program spans Pre-K through 12 and emphasizes bilingual learning and IB curricula within a faith-informed community.
Public PTA information is not published as a dedicated page on the official site. The school describes parental involvement as essential to education, for example noting that parental care is an indispensable link in Kuei Shan's education. For inquiries about parent involvement or PTA-like activities, the site directs questions through general contact channels (info@kss.tp.edu.tw, +886-2-2821-2009). The School also emphasizes parental engagement as part of its admissions and community life, alongside events that families can participate in, such as Winter Festival, Scout Day, and other school-wide activities. If you need formal PTA details, I can help reach out to the school for the latest information.
