The school offers an American-based curriculum aligned with the common core content standards established by the California state board of education for students in Grades 1–12 with foreign passports. IOWA testing is used for Grades 3–8, and a College Preparation Program supports PSAT, TOEFL, ACT, and SAT preparations. The AP Program includes courses such as AP Calculus AB, AP World History, AP 2-D Art and Design, AP Chinese Language and Culture, AP Computer Science A, AP Drawing, AP English Literature and Composition, AP European History, and AP Physics 1, and TYAS hosts the yearly AP Exam for TYAS and neighboring schools. The English as an Additional Language (EAL) program provides language support to help ELL students access mainstream classes.
Artwork is a standing element of TYAS Experience, indicating engagement in visual arts. Summer Camp offers arts and music performances as part of its activities. TYAS also integrates arts-related opportunities within the TYAS Experience through ongoing creative programming.
The English as an Additional Language (EAL) program provides the language support needed for ELL students to grasp academic, social, and cultural aspects of English through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. TYAS hosts international exchanges and cultural immersion events, such as hosting Japan's Keishin High School for a cultural immersion experience. During exchanges, TYAS students participate in sessions across digital publication, art, music, STEM, and Spanish.
TYAS operates an intramural sports program, with TYAS Intramurals 2025–2026 initiated and including Team Handball for students in Grades 1–8. Grade-level and school-wide competitions foster teamwork and school spirit, culminating in interlevel showdowns with the teachers. The program emphasizes enjoyment, teamwork, and healthy student life.

Taoyuan American School (TYAS) offers an American-based curriculum for grades 1–12, taught in English, with Advanced Placement (AP) courses available. The campus sits on the Kainan University campus in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, and TYAS notes a lake view from the site. TYAS describes its curriculum as American-based and aligned with the California State Board of Education common core standards, with English Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Visual Arts, Music, Computer Science and Physical Education taught across the elementary grades; the middle school adds Public Speaking and Journalism, while the high school includes Spanish among its offerings. AP courses have been offered since 2016, with a rotating roster (e.g., AP Calculus AB, AP World History, AP Chinese Language and Culture, AP Computer Science A, AP English Literature and Composition, AP European History, AP Physics 1, and AP 2-D Art and Design). TYAS supports a door-to-door bus service and emphasizes small class sizes (the site notes a 4:1 student‑to‑faculty ratio). The current principal is Dr. Fujiing Shiue, who joined TYAS in August 2024.
