AIT International School was founded in 1974 within the academic framework of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) by special agreement with the Thai Ministry of Education. It originally operated as AIT Child Center, serving children aged 5 to 12, and later merged with the AIT Playschool to provide services for younger children. In 2000, it became the AIT Community School, and on November 4, 2009, it officially adopted the name AIT International School (AITIS). Today, it remains a unit of AIT, maintaining its connection with the university and primarily serving children of AIT staff, students, and the surrounding community.
AITIS has a multicultural community closely connected to the AIT campus, with families from a variety of national backgrounds. The school hosts and participates in Thai and international celebrations, including festivals, sports days, cultural performances, and community service activities. Field trips, school camps, and co‑curricular programs also contribute to the community atmosphere.
The AITIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) includes all parents and teachers of the school. The PTA supports school life by organizing community and cultural events, assisting with fundraising activities, and volunteering at school celebrations and sports events. PTA council volunteers are elected at the start of the school year to coordinate these activities. Parents are encouraged to join in festivals, after‑school events, and special projects that enhance the school’s collaborative environment. This active involvement helps maintain a close connection between families and the school.
