Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Australian International School Bangkok was founded in 2002 and is registered under the name Aucksara International School. The Soi 20 Campus was the original site and continues to serve the Early Years section of the school. Over time, AISB expanded with the Sukhumvit Soi 31 Campus to accommodate primary and secondary students. The school is privately owned and managed, with overall leadership provided by the School Director and Head of School.

Community

AISB hosts a multinational community of over 40 nationalities, with students, staff, and families participating in school-based celebrations and cultural observances. The community calendar includes festivals, concerts, assemblies, and performances that reflect both Thai culture and the diverse backgrounds of its families. Community events often involve student showcases, language celebrations, and shared cultural traditions across campuses.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school does not publicly disclose the existence of a formal PTA or Parent Teacher Group on its official website or communications.

The AISB Sukhumvit Soi 20 Campus, founded in 2002 as the school’s original site, serves children from 18 months to around five years old (Nursery 1 to Year 1) in a residential pocket of central Sukhumvit. The campus constructs its early learning around the Australian Early Years Learning Framework ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’, promoting inquiry-based and play-centred experiences. Instruction is in English, and staffing includes native, qualified teachers. A co-curricular program incorporates art, music, sports, sciences and digital technologies—giving children opportunities to explore STEAM and creative expression from the outset. Daily bus and shuttle services ensure smooth journeys for local families and connectivity to the Upper Primary & Secondary campus on Soi 31. With low student numbers per class (typically 15–18) and a nurturing, tightly knit setting, the Soi 20 campus offers a welcoming first step into school life.
