Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

BEYC promotes social and emotional development through positive behaviour guidance, respectful communication, and empathy-building activities. The school uses “Sand’s Choices,” a conflict-resolution tool designed to help children resolve disputes independently or with minimal adult intervention. Teachers encourage respectful language and manners, and praise is used as a key reinforcement method. SEL is integrated into daily routines, supported by small class sizes and strong teacher–student relationships. These practices aim to help children develop critical thinking, self-regulation, and social skills.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school asks parents to declare any additional assistance a child may require at the time of registration, including allergies or Special Educational Needs (SEN). This information is used to prepare for the child’s arrival and ensure appropriate support is in place. While BEYC can make adjustments for individual needs, it is not a specialist SEN institution. Provision may include changes to daily routines, learning approaches, and health management. The school does not publicly list the specific types of SEN it can support beyond medical and allergy considerations.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school does not publicly disclose information regarding EAL provision.

Mental Wellbeing

The school does not publicly disclose specific programmes, staff roles, or initiatives dedicated to mental wellbeing.

Safeguarding

BEYC enforces strict collection policies, requiring authorised pick-up cards and photo ID for all guardians. Staff follow clear procedures for sickness, injury, and emergency care, including basic first aid and CPR training. All incidents are documented, and parents are notified regardless of severity. The school implements regular safety measures, such as mosquito control, air quality monitoring, and secure access during drop-off and pick-up.

The British Early Years Centre (BEYC), an international kindergarten in Bangkok, will relocate in **September 2025** to a new purpose-designed campus on Soi Santi Suk, continuing its nature-focused, child-led ethos. Founded in 2011, BEYC delivers the **British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)** curriculum enriched with a **Reggio Emilia and nature-inspired approach**, encouraging creative exploration with natural “loose-part” materials. Small classes of 16 children are supported by four adults (a 1:4 ratio), offering individualised attention. The school prioritises health and sustainability—serving **100% organic meals**, using natural cleaning products, featuring a salt-water pool, and balancing indoor/outdoor playtime. Accepting children aged **2 to 6 years**, BEYC runs Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with early drop-off and late pick-up options. The 2025 move marks an exciting expansion, with new facilities designed to enhance creative play, environmental learning, and community connections in the early years.
