Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school promotes SEL through a structured House System that encourages teamwork, respect, and a sense of belonging across age groups. A dedicated Student Support team offers individual and small group sessions on topics such as resilience, friendship, and emotional regulation. Teachers incorporate social-emotional strategies into classroom routines and collaborate with parents to ensure consistency at home. Strength-based coaching and mindfulness activities are also part of the programme. The focus is on helping students develop positive attitudes, confidence, and healthy peer relationships.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Invictus supports a range of Special Educational Needs including learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, communication needs, and some physical disabilities. A Learning Support Coordinator oversees assessments, develops Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and works closely with teachers and families to implement them. The school follows the UK Code of Practice to guide its approach and reviews support plans regularly.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school does not publicly disclose information regarding EAL.

Mental Wellbeing

Invictus offers counselling and wellbeing services through a qualified team that supports students with mental health, social, and personal challenges. The service is open to all students, with additional focus on those experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, or friendship issues. Wellbeing sessions incorporate mindfulness, resilience training, and growth mindset strategies. Staff work closely with families and teachers to provide holistic care. The goal is to equip students with the tools to manage emotions and maintain positive mental health.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is embedded in school culture, with all staff trained to recognize and report concerns. Designated Safeguarding Leaders oversee child protection and receive specialized training for their role. A Staff Code of Conduct and clear referral pathways ensure a consistent response to any issues. Safety education is integrated into the curriculum and school activities, including e-safety and personal safety. The school's approach is guided by a formal Safeguarding Policy and aligned with best practice standards.
