Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

King's Bangkok was founded in 2018 as the first King's College Wimbledon International School in Bangkok and Southeast Asia. A Founding Team chaired by Prof Dr Sakorn Suksriwong joined forces with the Saha Group and reached an agreement with King's College School Wimbledon on 27 September 2018 to build a school for Pre-nursery to Year 13 students in the Ratchada–Rama 3 area. Construction began on 16 March 2019 when the foundation stone was laid. The curriculum has been adapted and approved by King's Wimbledon, starting with the Early Years Foundation Stage and leading to IGCSEs and A-levels. The core pillars of Academic Excellence, a wide range of Co-curricular Programme and Pastoral Care guide the school's approach, reflecting the partnership with King's Wimbledon.

Community

King's Bangkok is the first King's Wimbledon International School in Southeast Asia and sits within the wider overseas King's Wimbledon community. The same House and Tutor system used at King's Wimbledon supports student belonging and pastoral care. The Liaison Committee of the King's Wimbledon family organises collaboration between King's Wimbledon and its overseas schools in Thailand, China and Monaco. The school hosts events and open days, including King's Bangkok Open Day and community activities such as blood donation drives.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Liaison Committee of the entire King's Wimbledon family organises collaboration between King's Wimbledon and its overseas schools in Thailand, China and Monaco. King's Bangkok follows King's Wimbledon policies and educational policies, with regular quality audits by King's Wimbledon. Teacher selection and recruitment involve a final round interview at King's Wimbledon for all class teachers, annual visits by Wimbledon teachers and reference verification. There are student exchange opportunities for students in Year 6 and above. Staff development is supported through collaboration, including Academic Focus Group sessions and bespoke leadership courses. The collaboration includes strong engagement on UCAS and other university admissions processes, and King's Bangkok maintains the same house and tutor system as King's Wimbledon.

King’s College International School Bangkok is a British-curriculum day school for boys and girls aged 2 to 18. Located in Bangkok’s Ratchada–Rama 3 area, the school follows the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), progressing through Key Stages 1–5, with students preparing for IGCSE and A Level qualifications. The curriculum is modelled after King’s College School, Wimbledon. Students benefit from specialist-taught subjects from a young age, including Thai and Mandarin in the Early Years. Facilities include science labs, robotics and design technology studios, indoor and outdoor sports areas, and a performing arts theatre. A distinctive feature of the school is its strong emphasis on character development through co-curricular activities, residential trips, and leadership opportunities. These include service learning programmes and initiatives inspired by frameworks such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Sixth Form students receive university counselling and academic mentorship tailored to the entry requirements of top global universities.
