Lighthouse began in September 2019 with a single class in a Land & House estate under the ownership of Melissa & Dan Skitch, a parent-led initiative that has since expanded across three campuses serving ages 1–18. Over the years, new facilities have been added: a shaded outdoor play area (2016), water-play zone (2021), and sandpit (2022).
Families are invited regularly to participate in events like monthly international-themed barbecues, community sporting events, talent shows, and parent–teacher discussions. The multicultural parent body frequently shares food and entertainment from different countries, deepening cultural ties and connections within the school.
The school hosts monthly family barbecues with themes like Greek and Italian, where parents often volunteer, such as providing catering or music. These events include student talent showcases and market-style stalls where children can engage in entrepreneurial activities. Teachers and parents also meet regularly to discuss student progress and participate in organised school events. Through these activities, parents take active roles in planning, sharing their skills, and fostering school-community partnerships.
Lighthouse Chalong International Kindergarten & School delivers a hands-on, play-based curriculum for children aged 1–7 years, rooted in the Canadian Flight framework and enriched with influences from Montessori, Waldorf, and EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). The program emphasizes cognitive skills (pattern recognition, sequencing, vocabulary), physical development (motor coordination, balance), social‑emotional growth (confidence, empathy, group play), and self-help abilities (personal care, responsibility). Learning includes early literacy through Jolly Phonics, Thai language basics, arithmetic, science, art, music, and outdoor activities, supported by indoor and outdoor play areas, sandpit, water-play, climbing equipment, and secure fenced grounds. Classes are kept small and staffed by native English-speaking, experienced educators to ensure stable, individualized learning.
