Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Thai-Chinese International School was founded in 1995 by a Taiwan-based educational foundation to serve Taiwanese and Thai communities and remains a non-profit institution . Originally overseen by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, TCIS changed status in 2006 and has since operated independently under Thai and U.S. accreditation. The school maintains governance via a volunteer Foundation Board, including Thai and Taiwanese members.

Community

The TCIS community organizes multilingual and multicultural events throughout the year, including seasonal festivals, student-led performances, and Parent-Teacher gatherings . Cultural learning is emphasized through celebrations of Thai, Chinese, and Western festivals, supplemented by field trips and student exchanges.

Parent-Teacher Association

TCIS operates an active PTA that collaborates with the school board and staff on community initiatives. Parents volunteer for events such as seasonal fairs, language and culture nights, and help coordinate fundraising efforts for school improvement . The PTA also organizes parent education workshops and supports school-wide celebrations like international day and graduation ceremonies . Meetings are typically held each semester, and parents serve on committees related to curriculum, facilities, and student wellbeing.
