Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

WeLearn Academy was founded in 2018 and is privately owned by the Doran family, with Dr David Doran serving as CEO and his sons, Andrew and Alfred, in leadership roles. The school started as a virtual education provider before opening its Bangkok innovation center. It has expanded through partnerships, such as its Hua Hin campus and the WeLearn Virtual Academy . The Doran family maintains operational oversight through their company WeStudy Co., Ltd.

Community

The school hosts regular project-based showcases where students present their work to parents and the community, such as STEM Innovation and NASA-themed PBL events. Seasonal programs are also offered, including camps and creative week-long events, which bring families together in informal educational settings .

Parent-Teacher Association

While WeLearn Academy does not reference a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the school actively involves parents through events such as term orientations and showcases. For example, during the September 2024 term orientation, parents were invited to join sessions introducing project-based learning themes, core learning structures, and team activities.
