How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school provides individual and group counseling and psycho-education services for students, teachers and parents, and conducts a guidance program; the guidance program is carried out in each class at guidance hours once a week under the leadership of class guidance teachers.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Intensive English is provided in the Prep year; apart from Turkish Language and Literature and Social Sciences, all classes are taught in English; students registering at ACI are not expected to know English; second language options are German, Spanish and French.

Mental Wellbeing

The school supports mental wellbeing through psychological counselors who provide individual and group counseling and psycho-education, and run the guidance program.

Safeguarding

The school uses a professional security firm providing 24/7 security; the campus is self-contained with surrounding walls and closely monitored gate access; security personnel oversee and inspect visitors to ensure a safe and secure environment.

The American Collegiate Institute (ACI) is a private, co-educational day school in Izmir, Turkey. Instruction is English, with Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish Social Sciences taught in Turkish. ACI offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for two years, with six courses (three SL and three HL), Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS. The Diploma was introduced in 2005; ACI was the first IB-authorized school in Aegean Region. The school is part of SEV network and maintains a link with the United States since its founding in 1878. Facilities include a science facility, a 550-seat Blake Performing Arts Center and Exhibition Hall, computer and arts facilities, and the Naomi Foster Library with over 43,000 titles. Taner Building houses upper secondary labs; boarding options include a girls' residence (60) and a boys' residence (81). ACI runs over 100 extracurriculars, including MUN, Junior Achievement, TÜBİTAK clubs, and ISTA arts.
