Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Sainte Pulchérie French High-School has a 175-year history. It was established in 1846 by the Daughters of Charity (Filles de la Charité). It became a mixed secondary school in 2000, educating around 450 students. The school teaches three languages—French, Turkish, and English—enabling study in Turkey and abroad, and is recognized by the Turkish Ministry of National Education as a foreign school; it is a member of the French Schools Federation of Turkey and earned the Label FrancEducation in 2013. In 2000, Sainte Pulchérie founded Yeni Nesil, a primary school, and the high school maintains a Galatasaray University quota.

Community

Arts and culture are central to Sainte Pulchérie's educational project; it regularly hosts meetings with artists through concerts, exhibitions, and conferences. Since 2009, Od'A-Ouvroir d'Art has hosted contemporary art exhibitions, and Sahne Pulchérie theatre opened in 2013 with regular programs, expanding cultural offerings for students and visitors. The Rainbow project (Arc-en-Ciel) encompasses language practice and field trips in Turkey and abroad, supporting a broad range of student projects. The school invites artists from Turkey, France and abroad, and events are often open to parents and the public during the school year. Alumni events such as Printemps des Artistes and the Peynir Günü reunion demonstrate the school's active community engagement.
