KCIS uses the English National Curriculum (ENC) adapted to reflect its international community and its location in Uganda. Students study thirteen subjects across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. KCIS is a single‑stream school with a maximum of 20 students per class and a teacher–student ratio of up to 1:10. KCIS has six academic years, from Year 1 to Year 6, with class allocation by date of birth at the start of the school year (1 September).
KCIS offers after‑school activities in arts and music as part of its broad extra‑curricular program. The school choir is open to all students, and there are individual music lessons in piano, guitar, drums and voice. Optional clubs cover a wide range of arts and creative pursuits, including Art, Ballet, Street Dance, Graffiti, Lego, Mini Engineers, STEM, Chess, LAMDA and Choir.
KCIS uses the English National Curriculum with adaptations to reflect its international community. French is taught in Key Stage 2. The school has a diverse student population from over 33 countries and a diverse teaching staff from four continents.
After‑school clubs take place daily and cover sports, music, art and hobbies. Examples include Gymnastics, Capoeira, Mini Engineers, Lego, Outdoor Sports, Graffiti, Swimming, STEM, Art, Music, Ballet, Street Dance, Tag Rugby, Choir and Chess.
KCIS envisions a world where young people contribute to their immediate and global communities. The school provides a holistic programme of education, an inspiring curriculum, and a safe, welcoming environment to support each child's social and moral development. The values include working together, being kind to others, and celebrating differences to foster social responsibility.
KCIS recognises the benefits of exercise for mental and physical health, concentration and peer relationships. Each class has two outdoor breaks totaling 1 hour 30 minutes per day. All students have two PE lessons per week, with activities including Gymnastics, Tag Rugby, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Dodgeball, Dance, Badminton, Parkour and Fitness Circuits. Students swim at least once a week and compete in ISSA swim meets.
Kampala Community International Primary School (KCIS) offers the British Curriculum, adapting the UK English National Curriculum to reflect its international Ugandan community. It is a single‑stream primary with six academic years (Year 1 to Year 6), class sizes capped at 20 and a teacher–student ratio of up to 1:10. Classes are allocated by date of birth on 1 September, and the school aims to inspire a love of learning while equipping students with skills, attitudes and values for diverse potentials. KCIS includes 13 subjects across English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, French (KS2), Music, ICT, Design & Technology, Art, PE, Swimming, PSHE, Life Skills, Library Time and Current Affairs (KS2), plus Daily Exercise. Swimming is part of the curriculum, and sport is played through ISSA leagues. The school emphasizes active learning in a caring, values‑driven environment and is inspected under the British Schools Overseas framework by PENTA International. KCIS was established to provide international education at an affordable price in Kampala, Uganda.
