AGS is Nova Scotia, Canada's longest running international program school. AGS delivers the Nova Scotia curriculum for Pre-School through Grade 12 as a private institution operating in the United Arab Emirates. The program is taught in English for most subjects, with French Language, Arabic Language, and Islamic Studies offered for Muslim students. The school has over 1,000 students from about 50 nationalities and emphasizes digital learning, including Chromebooks and Google Apps; Grades 7–12 use a one-to-one Chromebook program, while younger students use iPads; coding with Makey Makeys, Sphero, and Lego robotics is part of the curriculum.
Co-Curricular Activities include Arts, Computer Technology, Music, Film & Video, and Performing Arts. These activities promote self-expression and creativity and support the physical, emotional and cognitive development of students, as well as social skills and character.
The KG to Grade 12 curriculum is taught entirely in English, with French Language and Arabic Language courses and Islamic Studies available for Muslim students.
The REAL after-school program provides comprehensive after-school activities starting in September and offered in two terms. Field trips and school events contribute to student social life and community engagement.
The School Advisory Council advises on school policies and curriculum and supports effective communication. It consists of staff and non-staff members including a community member, parents and students. The SAC exists to promote academic excellence and a positive learning environment.
The athletics program focuses on mental and physical well being and aims to develop team spirit, leadership, fair play and resilience. AGS participates in ADISSA and Junior NBA as full members and offers football, basketball, rugby, touch rugby, swimming, volleyball and badminton. The REAL after-school program extends learning beyond the classroom and fosters well being and social development.
