Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Brighton College Dubai offers a broad range of co-curricular activities beyond timetabled lessons, including academic enrichment and STEM options. Examples include Science Club and Astrophysics, and a Debate club; pupils can start new clubs with staff support if they wish. The programme supports inquiry and intellectual engagement outside the classroom, including formal opportunities like the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, which includes expeditions and skill-building activities.

Arts and Creative

Arts and creative activities include Photography, Drama, and Choir, with a breadth of performing arts on offer. The college also provides LAMDA courses as part of its performing arts provision. Staff support helps students start new arts clubs and activities as part of the co-curricular programme.

Cultural and Language

Arabic Creative Writing is offered as a language/cultural activity, and Debate provides a forum for public speaking and cultural discussion. LAMDA courses also support language-based performance and communication as part of the arts offering.

Social and Hobbies

A wide range of clubs extends across sports and hobbies, including Netball, Football, Golf, Swimming, Running, Athletics, Basketball, and Chess. There are additional clubs in Photography, Debate and Arabic Writing, among others. Students are encouraged to start new clubs with staff support to pursue personal interests.

Community and Service

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is offered with Gold, Silver and Bronze levels, including expeditions such as desert and mountain camping trips across the Emirates. Beyond expeditions, pupils engage in volunteering and helping the local community, developing skills and leadership.

Leadership and Professional

The Sixth Form provides extensive leadership opportunities, including roles such as Heads of School, Prefects, College Ambassadors, leading clubs, and mentoring younger pupils. Training is provided in mentoring, and pupils are encouraged to extend learning beyond the classroom with a focus on independent study skills and university preparation.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The aims emphasise sport, music and the performing arts as part of wellbeing beyond the classroom. The co-curricular programme includes sport such as swimming, netball, football and golf, contributing to physical fitness and team-based wellbeing. Outdoor expeditions and activities linked to the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award further support resilience and personal development.
