Hartland International School follows the National Curriculum for England, with High-Performance Learning embedded in the curriculum. The Hartland Way integrates academic challenge, enrichment opportunities and pastoral support to target excellence. The enrichment programme offers over 100 clubs and activities, with students spending up to four hours per week in enrichment; most activities are included in tuition.
Performing Arts is a specialist provision with drama, music and dance, delivered across the school. The programme includes two annual musical productions, and opportunities to participate in Primary and Secondary plays, choir and ensembles, and backstage or technical roles. LAMDA examinations are offered and Grade 6 and above earns UCAS points for university applications.
Languages are taught in addition to English and Arabic. In the primary phase Year 3 students study French or Spanish; in Years 4–6 they study French, Spanish, German or Mandarin. In the secondary phase, students choose two languages; Year 9 specialization is toward GCSE, linking language study to global awareness and potential overseas trips.
Hartland offers an extensive enrichment programme across drama, music and dance. There are two annual musical productions and a variety of performances, with opportunities to participate in Primary and Secondary choirs, ensembles and clubs such as Pop Band and Ukulele Club. Students may contribute as backstage and technical crew and pursue leadership roles within productions.
Community service is one of Hartland's core values. The Sixth Form-led Hartland Helpers charity club and Eco Warriors promote charitable and sustainability initiatives. Students support various causes monthly, raising funds for Dubai Cares and the Al Jalila Foundation and helping those in need within the school and wider community.
The Hartland Student Council represents every phase and year group, and is led by the Head Boy and Head Girl with the support of a Student Leadership Team. The Hartland Way emphasises life skills, personal responsibility and leadership development.
Wellbeing is a cornerstone of the Hartland ethos, with a dedicated wellbeing provision and two school counsellors. Pastoral care supports emotional development in both primary and secondary phases, with Form Tutors and Heads of Year. The school promotes a safe, inclusive community with ongoing parental engagement.
