Hartland International School opened in September 2015 in Dubai, initially as a primary school. The school was founded by Meraki Education, which established Hartland as its first school in 2015. The school has since expanded to include secondary education and a Sixth Form. Ajay Rajendran is the founder and chairman of Meraki Group, the parent organization behind Hartland.
Hartland International School's community is diverse, with students and staff representing over 100 nationalities. Hartland Friends, the school's Parents Association, extends the community ethos by involving parents in events and by providing class representatives who connect families with the school. The school promotes open parent involvement through an open-door policy, workshops, and ongoing engagement in school development. Regular community events include New Parents Coffee mornings, Union and Cultural Awareness Day, and an annual Fun Day.
