Student happiness and wellbeing is an integral part of learning at IIS DSO; the school provides a safe, secure and inclusive learning environment for all students. Mindfulness sessions are conducted at the start of the term to help students focus and reduce anxiety, supporting social-emotional learning. A de-stress lounge lightens moods during stressful periods and features calming elements such as plants, art therapy, and calming music. Thematic Weeks integrate knowledge with wellbeing, including KYS Week, Safety Week, Wellness Week, and Innovation Week. Building Bonds Sessions support social development by helping students from KG to Grade 5 build stronger bonds with peers and teachers through activities like Home Tour, memory games, scavenger hunts, and open mic events. Heartfulness Practice supports wellbeing through heart-based meditation, and Project Evexia is a student-led wellbeing program with Wellbeing Champions and a motto of “we'll keep each other well.”

The school welcomes students of determination and has a learning support program addressing the individual needs of students of determination, gifted and talented. The school creates a supportive environment that gives each student equal access to learning and development, enabling all students to learn from each other and engage in learning activities together. The school follows procedures for catering to individual needs with specialist staff and uses screening-tools to ensure accurate identification and inclusive teaching. Identified needs are evaluated and discussed in light of classroom observations, notebook work, periodic tests and term exams. Care & Support for Students with Learning Differences provides support in a variety of settings using methodologies based on individual needs. Care & Support for Highly Abled, Gifted and Talented Students provides extension work, opportunities to participate in external competitions, meetings with parents, and an Advanced Learning Plan.

Counselling Services collaborate with teachers and parents to identify academic and psycho-socio-emotional needs and provide targeted interventions. Interventions are tailored to the needs of Students of Determination to remove barriers and support learning. The Counselling team includes Counsellors, Special Educators and Learning Support Assistants who empower Students of Determination to manage difficulties and participate in wellbeing programs. Career Guidance provides university admissions, tests, and employability guidance, with group sessions from Grade 8 to help students plan their futures. The program focuses on developing skills and behaviours essential for academic achievement and holistic personal development. Heartfulness Practice supports wellbeing through heart-based meditation and is part of the school's wellbeing approach.

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy (Version 10: Sept 2025) sets out the school's commitment to protect and safeguard the rights and welfare of all students. The policy applies to all stakeholders and requires ongoing awareness, training and responses to concerns. Types of abuse include physical, psychological, sexual, potential and cyber abuse, with explicit examples. There are clear procedures for reporting concerns, including notifying the Designated Child Protection Officer and avoiding independent investigations; confidentiality is maintained. Digital safeguarding covers network security, data security, cyber hygiene, cyberbullying, and social media guidelines. External agencies are involved as needed, and parents are notified when required, with records monitored by the DCPO.
