Jebel Ali School opened in September 1977 as Jebel Ali Primary School to educate the children of expatriate workers involved in the construction of Jebel Ali Port. In 1986, the school gained independent, non-profit status by decree from His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In 2016, the school relocated to a new Damac Hills campus and expanded to include a secondary school. In 2021, a Sixth Form was opened, extending the range of years offered. In 2022, Jebel Ali School joined the Taaleem Group of schools, continuing to operate within a British curriculum while serving a diverse, international student body.
The Jebel Ali School community is international and cosmopolitan, reflecting a diverse student body and staff. The school emphasizes care, wellbeing, and happiness as core components of its ethos. The Damac Hills campus supports students from Foundation Stage through to the Sixth Form, linking the school's heritage with Dubai's dynamic present.
The PTA at Jebel Ali School is an active group of parents and teachers whose aim is to enhance the school experience through events and fundraising. They have organized Winter Fairs, International Days, World Book Day activities, student movie evenings, adult quizzes, and community Iftars, among other initiatives. The group emphasizes inclusivity and welcomes new members and ideas to keep activities fresh. Funds raised by the PTA support 'nice-to-have' elements that enrich school life beyond core provisions. The PTA views involvement as a way to connect students, staff, parents, and the wider local community in a shared educational experience.
