Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is integrated into PMBS, with Personal, Social and Emotional Development forming a core area of the Foundation Stage and a culture of kindness, resilience, and respect fostered through strong relationships, daily routines, and opportunities for children to express their feelings.
PMBS is an inclusive school; most pupils' needs are met in the mainstream classroom, with extra support written in an Individual Education Program (IEP) or an Individual Learning Plan (ILP); there is a Head of Inclusion and a team of specialist teachers, qualified SEN coordinators, and over six learning support assistants, with provisions for Gifted and Talented.
Provision is available for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and this is discussed during the admissions process to determine current level and required support; teachers are expected to meet the learning needs of each student, including EAL pupils.
PMBS emphasizes pastoral care and safeguarding to provide a safe, caring environment and support for all students; staff induction and safeguarding training, a Designated Safeguarding Person and a Safeguarding Committee reflect the school's commitment to well‑being and protection.
PMBS has robust safeguarding arrangements, including a Designated Safeguarding Person, a Safeguarding Committee, a Staff Code of Conduct, safer recruitment policies, and clear procedures for reporting concerns; safeguarding is the responsibility of all staff, volunteers, parents and guardians.
