PEPS promotes Social and Emotional Learning through a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing, with Mental Health and PSHE taught to all year groups, and Wellbeing Leads coordinating universal and targeted support across staff; the school also emphasises an open culture that makes it normal to talk about mental health.
PEPS defines Students of Determination and uses the UAE Categorization Framework to guide provision, employing a three-level graduated approach with Individual Education Plans delivered primarily within the common learning environment, supported by Learning Support Assistants and Inclusion Support Teachers; a Head of Inclusion leads the inclusion effort and a Team Around the Child coordinates involvement of families and external agencies.
An English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher is part of the inclusion structure, responsible for assessing, monitoring and reporting on EAL support, creating and revising the EAL curriculum, and coordinating collaboration between specialists to support differentiation.
The Wellbeing Policy commits to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for the whole school, with PSHE and mental health topics taught across all year groups and Wellbeing Leads coordinating universal and targeted programs (including roles such as Mental & Emotional Health Social Worker and School Nurse).
The Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy defines safeguarding and child protection, sets procedures for handling disclosures, designates a Child Protection Officer, and requires staff training and mandatory reporting to authorities when needed.
