Repton Abu Dhabi was established in 2013 as part of the Repton Family of Schools in the UAE, in partnership with Evolvence Knowledge Investments (EKI). The Rose Campus opened in 2013 and the Fry Campus opened in 2017 on Reem Island. Repton International Schools Ltd (RISL) was formed in 2013 to oversee the expansion of British international schools; overseas schools are owned and funded by local investors, enter into a services agreement with RISL, and profits are remitted to Repton School Trust in the UK to support capital projects and bursaries. Aldar Properties completed construction and handed the Repton Abu Dhabi asset to Evolvence Knowledge Investments ahead of the 2017/18 academic year.
Repton Abu Dhabi hosts a diverse international community with pupils and families representing over 75 nationalities. The school has engaged with local culture through events such as art exhibitions and museum-based learning days, including an art exhibition at Galleria Al Maryah Island in 2020 that showcased student artworks. The Louvre Abu Dhabi hosted a Repton learning day as part of its Take Over the Museum program, linking curriculum to the museum environment. In 2023, pupils participated in coronation celebrations with school-wide activities and a street party, reflecting the school's British-International identity within the UAE.
The school maintains a parent committee named Friends of Repton. The committee is described as an empowered, supportive and proactive parent committee, developed under the school's leadership to strengthen parent involvement in Abu Dhabi. The formation and ongoing work of Friends of Repton were guided by the senior leadership team, including the principal, and are aimed at fostering closer collaboration between parents and the school. Parents can stay informed and engaged through established communications channels, including the school's news updates, a parent portal, and other direct parent communications. The leadership emphasizes active parent involvement as a core element of the Repton Abu Dhabi community.
