Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Smart Vision School places a strong emphasis on social and emotional learning through its holistic approach to development. The core learning features state that the curriculum is planned so that new knowledge builds on prior learning and includes a strong emphasis on personal development and social skills to help pupils form healthy relationships and value their place in the world. The school's mission, 'Excite, Engage, Empower,' guides a personalized, inquiry-based approach to learning. School Life highlights 'Promoting Happiness & Well-being' as part of everyday life at SVS. For EAL pupils, experienced staff support their language development to enable fuller participation in social and academic life.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Special Education Needs at Smart Vision School are provided within an inclusive framework rather than through a dedicated SEN institution. The Learning Support Team includes Specialist Learning Support, English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Counseling staff who collaborate to support students in an inclusive environment. The Learning Support Team develops individual plans to suit each student's requirements, including short-term or ongoing support as needed. When a child is identified as having an additional need, the team works with parents and outside agencies to develop an individual education plan (IEP) where appropriate. The school publicly identifies that it supports SEN, EAL, and Gifted and Talented (G&T) needs.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English as an Additional Language (EAL) is part of Smart Vision School's Special Education Needs provisions. EAL services, along with Specialist Learning Support and Counseling staff, are provided to support students in an inclusive environment. The Learning Support Team develops individual plans to suit each student's requirements, providing short-term or ongoing support as needed. Where a pupil is identified as having an additional need, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) may be developed with parents and, if required, outside agencies. EAL support is integrated within the classroom to enable participation in learning and social life.

Mental Wellbeing

The School Life section highlights Promoting Happiness & Well-being as a core feature of SVS. A patient, positive pastoral care system underpins the emotional development of pupils. Counseling staff are part of the student support services to address wellbeing and social-emotional needs. The safeguarding framework emphasizes child welfare and safe recruitment to protect students. Health and Safety policies govern safety and security across the school to create a secure environment.

Safeguarding

The school describes safeguarding with the header 'Your Child Is In Safe Hands' and states that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. It operates a proactive pastoral care approach to promote pupil welfare and well-being. All staff undergo thorough safeguarding screening, including police clearances, under UK statutory guidance for safeguarding and safer recruitment. The Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy is available for reference. Front-line contact channels for safeguarding inquiries are provided via the school's contact details (phone, WhatsApp, and email).
