Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Millennium School supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through an Inclusion and Counselling framework led by the Inclusion Team, which includes the Head of Inclusion and Counselling, counselors, and special educators. The counselling and learning-support department identifies individual learning needs, develops Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Behavior Management Programs (BMPs), and monitors progress with input from families and school stakeholders. The Inclusion Team sets standards for inclusion practices and provides trainings for teachers and parents. Mental health and wellbeing are reinforced through wellbeing-focused events such as Mental Health Week in the Primary section and a Wellbeing Festival on campus. The school belongs to the Round Square network and offers a Self Enhancement Programme to develop mindful global citizens.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Millennium School has an Inclusion Support Team that includes Senior Leadership, Educational Supervisors, Parent and LSA representatives, Counselors and Special Educators. The team identifies individual learning needs, plans and implements Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Behavior Management Programs (BMPs), and monitors progress with stakeholder involvement. The school offers trainings and awareness programs for teaching staff and parents as part of its inclusion framework. The Millennium School emphasises equal rights to education for students of determination and links to KHDA inclusion policy documents. The school describes its approach as inclusive education within a mainstream CBSE school rather than as a specialist SEN institution.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school publicly lists Second Language offerings in the Senior School (Hindi, French and Malayalam). Public documentation does not describe a dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme or named EAL staff. The presence of language options does not equate to an explicit EAL provision in publicly disclosed materials. Any EAL support specifics are not publicly disclosed.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental Health Week is run in the Primary Section (Grades 1-5) with empathy-focused activities and staff-led sessions. The school has hosted dedicated wellbeing events such as a Wellbeing Festival in collaboration with the Gems wellbeing committee, designed to promote holistic well-being for students. The Wellbeing Festival involved students from multiple Gems schools and mentors and aimed to cultivate techniques for sustainable well-being in mind, body and soul. Yoga Day and other wellbeing activities are part of Student Life and demonstrate ongoing emphasis on wellbeing. These wellbeing initiatives are documented on the school's events pages.

Safeguarding

The school provides a Child Safeguarding framework within its Student Care and Support, and it states that it delivers best-in-class health and safety standards within GEMS schools. The school maintains an onsite health clinic with a full-time doctor and nurses, and the clinic is regularly inspected by health authorities as part of safeguarding. The school states safer recruitment policies aligned with the International Task Force on Child Protection, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding staff and students. KHDA policy links and the Dubai safety framework are referenced in inclusion and safeguarding documentation. The school has strong safeguarding practices as part of its overall welfare provisions.
