Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Woodlem British School places social-emotional learning (SEL) at the heart of its approach to education. A dedicated team of counselors and staff provide one-on-one emotional and social support to help students navigate challenges, manage emotions, and build resilience. The school runs programs to develop social skills and healthy peer relationships, including conflict resolution and empathy development. Parental involvement is encouraged through workshops, seminars, and regular communications to support student well-being at home. Student leadership opportunities, such as Student Well-Being Ambassadors and the Student Council, foster a positive, inclusive school culture. Mindfulness and stress-management initiatives are integrated into the school culture to support mental well-being.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Woodlem British School provides inclusive education and SEN support. The Inclusion Team works closely with teachers and parents to ensure that students with SEN receive accommodations, resources, and support to thrive academically and socially. The school is described as inclusive and does not indicate that it operates as a specialist SEN institution. The level of SEN provision beyond inclusive education is not specified.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school does not publicly disclose information regarding EAL provision.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is a central component of the well-being framework. Mindfulness and stress-management techniques are taught to help students manage stress and maintain focus. Counseling services are available from professional counselors to support students with personal, academic, or social challenges, with confidentiality. Mental health resources are provided alongside counseling to address concerns early and involve parents when needed. Mental health is integrated into the curriculum and school culture to help students recognize and address mental health concerns.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding and child protection are central to the school's health and safety framework. The campus is secure with 24/7 security, sign-in procedures, and trained on-site medical staff. On-site first aid and medical support are available, and regular emergency drills and procedures cover a range of scenarios. E-safety is taught as part of the curriculum to educate students about online safety and to counter cyberbullying. The school promotes diversity and inclusion, with anti-bullying initiatives and clear policies to ensure a safe environment for all students.
