Edward Greene established Greene's in Oxford in 1967 and moved to the 17th‑century Pembroke Street premises soon after. The property, in the heart of the city and surrounded by university colleges, is Greene's home today and has inspired eminent academics for centuries. Greene's is the oldest tutorial college in Oxford, and quite possibly in the U.K., having changed owners only once. The spelling Greene's stems from the founder's family name, and the college is focused on innovation to prepare students for the 21st and 22nd centuries.
The student life at Greene's is vibrant with clubs including the Student Social Committee, Film Podcast, Photography, Anime and more, complemented by trips to museums, cinemas, the opera and escape rooms. The Student Social Committee is the voice of the student body, with elections for roles such as President, Vice President, and various secretarial posts. Clubs are student‑led and new clubs can be formed in coordination with the Student Experience Officer. There are trips and visits throughout the year to the University of Oxford, online murder mystery games, operas such as La Traviata and The Magic Flute, pizza parties and escape room outings, plus temporary membership to The Oxford Union for Greene's students.
The Parents Page includes a Parent Charter, detailing expectations such as treating all members with respect, seeking peaceful solutions, attending meetings, and reading progress slips and reports on Greene's Online. It explains how to communicate with Greene's, including contact via staff and the Academic Director, and notes that meetings with staff are pre‑arranged. There are two main parents' evenings per year (Michaelmas and Trinity) to meet the Academic Director, with information shared via newsletters and the online portal; a virtual college space supports online parents' evenings as well. The page also covers complaints procedures and general contact details.

The college combines rigorous study with dynamic feedback via Greene's Online, a bespoke platform for submitting work and receiving feedback.
