Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

FASNY offers two programs: the French-American Program and the International Program, and all students graduate with a New York State high school diploma. The school is accredited to offer both the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and the French baccalaureate. Learner profiles invite students to engage in flagship projects and to join clubs across disciplines, including art, science, mathematics, robotics, IT, business, environment, architecture, sports, philosophy, language, journalism, and literature, with study trips and tutoring integrated into schooling. Middle and High School students participate in traditional teacher-led clubs such as Model UN, Yearbook, Chemistry Club, Robotics, and more, alongside student-initiated clubs.

Arts and Creative

Arts programs at FASNY span Visual Arts, Music, and Performing Arts. The Visual Arts program guides students from Nursery through High School, advancing from foundational skills to advanced techniques and culminates in annual art shows. The Music program begins in bilingual classes, with weekly Lower School music, the recorder, and the Lower School Chorus, plus annual musicals such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Willy Wonka Jr, with older students exploring music theory and participating in ensembles like the FASNY Rock Band. Performing Arts builds a comprehensive theatrical education from Preschool through High School, including Shakespeare and Molière studies, stage performances, and behind-the-scenes work.

Cultural and Language

FASNY offers a Language Institute with Arabic and French at multiple levels, accessible in-person or online for students and adults. Arabic is offered for Young Learners (PreK–6th), Beginner Arabic (4th–5th), Intermediate Arabic (5th–10th), and Advanced Arabic (10th–12th). French is offered at Beginner and Intermediate levels (I and II), with options for adults. The Language Institute emphasizes bilingual learning and practical language exposure across languages.

Social and Hobbies

Student-led clubs are a hallmark of FASNY's Middle and High School, with traditional teacher-led clubs such as Model UN, Yearbook, Chemistry Club, and Robotics. Examples of student clubs include Cinema Club, Investment Club, Debate, Social Justice/Diversity Club, Photography, Sewing, Newspaper, Gaming Development, Drawing, and Archeology/Paleontology. These clubs complement a broad activity program that also includes music, arts, and athletics opportunities.

Community and Service

Community Service is a key component of a FASNY education, with students participating in various initiatives throughout the year and Middle/High School students required to complete a set number of hours to graduate. Flagship programs include Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen, Food Collection, Snack Bags, and Sai Schools in Sudan, coordinating with the Community Service Club and other groups. Every year, students who complete 100 or more hours are eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

Leadership and Professional

From preschool onward, students participate in activities that connect classroom learning to real-world contexts, and Career Day in grades 6–10 exposes students to a wide range of professions. In High School, students can develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills through the Future Business Leaders of America club, national and international conferences, and student-led organizations. The Grade 10 Entrepreneurship Program includes startup idea development, market research, and a four-day internship with a final pitch to a jury of educators and business leaders.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Well-being is the foundation of FASNY's approach, with a dedicated team including a nurse, three school counselors, Leaders of Learning, administration, and school nurses to support social, emotional, and academic growth. The school offers Learning Support, Directed Studies, and Language Support in English and French to meet diverse student needs, with SEL programs, class circle time, and work on essential life skills. By High School, the well-being team emphasizes student ownership of learning and leadership, while a broad array of student-led clubs, athletics, and service opportunities support personal growth.
