Beginning in 1977, the International School of Denver began as a French-language program (Denver International School) meeting in a local church. It moved to a larger building on Holly Street in 1982. In 1990, DIS was accredited by the French Ministry of Education and expanded its language offerings to include Spanish (2001) and Chinese (2003), with a German program briefly (2000–2003) and a 1997 French continuation program with Hamilton Middle School. In 2009 the school merged with Montclair Academy to form Denver Montclair International School, and in 2014 it evolved into ISDenver with a bilingual, bicultural curriculum and a new lower school building funded by the community. In 2016 ISDenver opened a STEAM hub and wellness facilities, and in 2021 opened the Mary Louise Evans building for the Middle School, summer camps, after-school programming, and community events, with the PreK-G8 Campus at 7701 East First Place, Unit C and the High School Campus at 458 Uinta Way.
ISDenver is an inclusive, globally-minded community that develops compassionate and curious global citizens through language and culture. The Dragon Parent Association (DPA) enhances the ISDenver experience by building community among families and staff through volunteer-led events that support the school's mission, vision, values, and beliefs. From fall's International Harvest Festival to spring's Viva el Dragón, the DPA organizes events for families and provides programs like Dragon Buddies that connect veteran families with new families, along with Room Parents who help families get involved in the classroom. The DPA maintains an active Executive Committee with roles including President, Secretary, Events Chair, Room Parent Chair, New Family Welcome Chair, Admissions Partnership Chair, Dragon Buddies Co-Chairs, and Ex-Officio.

ISDenver is an IB World School serving PreK through Grade 12 with two Denver campuses. It offers the International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) alongside a bilingual framework aligned with French and Indian curricula. The Primary Years Programme is delivered in English and Spanish; the Diploma Programme is taught in English and French. The school follows a progressive bilingual model: about 90% language immersion in preschool through Grade 2, a 50/50 English–language split from Grades 3–5, and language-focused block schedules in Grades 6–8. A Chinese language program is integrated in the Middle Years, complemented by additional language offerings and international trips. ISDenver maintains a Section française and is a partner in the AEFE network. The PreK–G8 campus at 7701 East First Place, Unit C, and the High School Campus at 458 Uinta Way are equipped with libraries, gymnasia, and fields. The school emphasizes service learning, after-school clubs in robotics, drama, and third-language study, and international journeys if applicable for students over various grades.
