Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Middle and high school students choose between International Baccalaureate (IB) and the French national curriculum. LILA provides a broad range of student-led clubs that deepen academic engagement. Examples include Model United Nations, Debate, LILA Science Club, LILA Physics Club, and Computer Science Club. These opportunities support critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic scholarly inquiry.

Arts and Creative

The arts program emphasizes skill-building and cultural appreciation. Elementary and middle school students participate in visual arts, music, and theater, with a World Music program featuring African Drumming, Brazilian Samba, Spanish Flamenco, and Middle Eastern Music. High school students have access to professional resources such as an etching press and an analog photography darkroom, and IB students compose music using Digital Audio Workstations. Regular performances and off-campus gallery exhibitions provide opportunities to explore and showcase artistic learning.

Cultural and Language

Cultural and language opportunities are integrated across campuses, including school trips to France, Costa Rica, and Greece. Language clubs include Asian Culture Club, Greek Language Club, ASL Club, Middle Eastern Heritage Club, and other multicultural groups, while educational clubs cover language and cultural topics. The school hosts multicultural events such as the French Holiday Bazaar and Fête Autour du Monde. This global orientation is reinforced through international experiences and cross-cultural learning.

Social and Hobbies

LILA offers a wide array of hobby and interest clubs that foster creativity and community. Most-popular clubs include Model United Nations, Debate, LILA Gazette, Choir, Rock & Jazz Bands, Green Team, and a range of service, creative, and educational clubs. Students can join clubs such as Poetry Club, Photography Club, Art Club, Playing Cards Club, Line Dancing, Tabletop Club, and Mountain Biking Club, or start a new one if their interest isn't represented.

Community and Service

Service Clubs include Key Club, GSA, Green Team, BIPOC Student Union, Protect Paws, PB Sundays Club, Peer Mediation, Peer Mentoring, and Red Cross Club, providing volunteering and community outreach opportunities. The Green Team focuses on environmentally positive practices on campus and beyond. Students participate in service projects and social-responsibility initiatives through these clubs.

Leadership and Professional

LILA provides leadership roles and programs for middle and high school students. The LILA Student Council combines ASB and CVL to serve as the student voice and coordinate campus activities. Students can serve as Student Delegates, advocate for their classes, and contribute to school spirit. Additional opportunities include the DEI Committee and Student Ambassadors who represent LILA to prospective families and support admissions events.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Athletics provide opportunities for physical development and teamwork across K–12, with sports including Basketball, Fencing, Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Flag Football. The After-School Program offers a wide variety of activities designed to spark curiosity, including arts, dance, sports, and private music lessons; cooking, taekwondo, and table tennis are popular classes. Camps offer outdoor explorations, sports clinics, robotics, cooking workshops, and trips such as skiing, supporting physical health, outdoor activity, and well-being.
