Enrichment opportunities include CYO Sports; K-8 Extension Program; Preschool Aftercare; Robotics Team; Scouts BSA & Girl Scouts; Speech & Debate Team; and Youth Ministry.
Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

SEL is integrated across St. Luke School from Preschool through Grade 8. Since 2013, St. Luke School has been identified as a local demonstration site for the Second Step SEL program. The school explicitly teaches research-based SEL curricula to all students, and communicates with parents to reinforce these skills at home. SEL is woven into academic learning to create a positive school climate that supports learning and narrows the achievement gap. In K-8, lessons on bullying prevention and personal safety are taught using the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit and Archdiocesan Circle of Grade Teaching Safety lessons.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Learning Resource Center provides supports for diverse learners. Learning Resource Specialists collaborate with teachers from Pre-K through Grade 8 to offer comprehensive support to students, ensuring the effective implementation of recommended classroom accommodations. Some students may receive personalized, one-on-one, or small-group academic interventions outside the classroom, with a collaborative team approach that includes parents and external professionals. The school collaborates with local public schools and Title Programs to provide tutoring services and to explore the initiation of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or an Individualized Service Plan (ISP). For questions or to inquire about LRC services, contact the Learning Resource Director at bbower@stlukeshoreline.org or submit an LRC Services Inquiry; current families should contact their homeroom teacher.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Spanish is taught as a second language to all students from preschool through grade 8 as part of the International Baccalaureate program.

Mental Wellbeing

SEL is an integral part of education and human development. SEL helps students develop healthy identities, manage emotions, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. In addition to SEL, K-8 includes bullying prevention and personal safety lessons using the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit and Archdiocesan Circle of Grade Teaching Safety lessons. The school communicates with parents/guardians to reinforce these essential skills at home, and SEL is woven across academic areas to nurture a positive school climate that supports learning and narrows the achievement gap.

Safeguarding

Safety training for volunteers is required per Archdiocesan policy. Virtus - Protecting God's Children is mandatory and background checks must be renewed every three years. History

The original staff included three Edmond Dominican Sisters and one lay teacher, and the initial student body consisted of 125 students in grades first through fifth. Buildings and instructional programs have continually been upgraded as extracurricular activities enrich the academic experience. Today, St. Luke School serves Preschool through eighth grade, with more than 430 students and over 260 families.

Community

An integral part of the St. Luke experience is the community that your family joins. Alumni affect the school through ongoing involvement; many alumni return as teachers and many families stay connected over the years. The St. Luke community fosters lasting friendships formed through school life.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The school has a Parents Club that coordinates family involvement and fundraising activities. It supports a range of giving programs: Abner Michael Memorial Fund, Annual Fund, Auction, Fund-A-Need, Legacy Giving, RaiseRight Program, and Rick Boyle Scholarship. It also coordinates sponsorship opportunities through Warrior Guild. The Parents Club organizes events such as the St. Luke-A-Thon and Fish Fry Friday to engage families and raise funds. Participation in these initiatives supports scholarships and school projects and enhances programs for students. These activities foster a sense of community and involvement among families, staff, and students.
