Located in Boston's Back Bay, The Newman School is an independent boarding and day school for grades 7 through 12. Founded in 1945, it offers a traditional liberal arts education alongside International Baccalaureate options. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) runs from Grade 7 to 10, preparing students for the Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 11 and 12. In Grade 11 students select one of three academic paths, leading to the Newman High School Diploma or the IB Diploma. The DP Core comprises Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS); the Extended Essay; and Theory of Knowledge. Language offerings include French, Latin, and Spanish, and the student body represents about 40 countries with 23 languages spoken. The City is Our Campus framework connects learning with Boston partnerships, leveraging facilities across EBERSOL Field, Huntington YMCA, The Track at New Balance, and more. A broad range of clubs supports inquiry, leadership, and community involvement and service.
