The Ogden International School of Chicago - East Campus

Ogden International operates on three campuses: East Campus at 24 W. Walton St, Chicago, IL 60610; Jenner Campus at 1119 N. Cleveland Ave, Chicago, IL 60610; and West Campus at 1250 W. Erie St, Chicago, IL 60642. All campuses are served by the CTA by bus and train, and walking is encouraged. East Campus serves grades K–4; Jenner Campus serves grades 5–8 and PreK; West Campus serves grades 9–12.

East Campus: Early Entry 8:00 a.m.; School Hours 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Jenner Campus: Early Entry 8:15 a.m.; School Hours 8:45 a.m.–3:45 p.m. West Campus: Early Entry 7:45 a.m.; School Hours 8:00 a.m.–3:10 p.m. (Wednesdays 8:00 a.m.–2:20 p.m.).

The Ogden International School uses the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework across the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The primary language of instruction is English. Additional language instruction includes French (MYP and DP) and Spanish (DP), with ESL support and Spanish for Heritage Speakers. The Language Policy provides mother tongue support, accommodations for English learners, and opportunities for bidirectional language development; 8th graders moving to 9th grade can switch Language Acquisition between French and Spanish. DP courses are offered to high school students who qualify; Beginning in 6th grade, honors classes are offered that focus on English, math, history, science and foreign languages. The IB-aligned curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning, inclusion, collaboration, growth, global-mindedness, and health and wellness.

Ogden International School provides a Counseling Department that offers a full range of services including academic, personal, social, and college planning. The department serves the East Campus, Jenner Campus, and West Campus with dedicated counselors. The Elementary School Counselor, Middle School Counselor, and High School Counselors support students across grades K-12. The counseling program is described as comprehensive, restorative, and student-centered. The counselors work to foster social and emotional development and well-being and to support academic growth.

Ogden East Campus writes and develops IEPs for diverse learners and pushes into classrooms to provide specialized instruction, accommodations, and modifications in the general education environment. The school is committed to inclusion and co-teaching to maximize learning opportunities for diverse learners. Resource classes in language arts or math are available in a separate setting for more individualized instruction. Lessons are differentiated and instruction is designed to meet students' needs in the least restrictive environment (LRE).

There is an English Language Learner Support specialist to address bilingual or English as Second Language concerns.

Ogden provides a counseling program that supports students' academic, personal, social, and college planning needs. The Counseling Department includes an Elementary School Counselor, a Middle School Counselor, and High School Counselors serving the East, Jenner, and West campuses. The program focuses on social and emotional development and overall mental wellbeing. Counseling staff provide preventative and responsive services to support student wellbeing. One counselor describes CBT as a framework for her counseling practice.

Ogden has a formal protocol to report concerns and to address issues promptly. To report, go to the source and address the issue with the person closest to it; if unresolved, contact the classroom teacher first, then the designated campus staff such as deans, counselors, and the case manager. For bilingual or English as Second Language concerns, contact the English Language Learner Support specialist. If concerns remain unresolved, escalate to the Head of School and, if necessary, to the Chicago Public Schools Parent Support Center.

1. Pre-K and Kindergarten admissions (Ogden Elementary, neighborhood school). Ogden Pre-K is a Gold-Rated CPS early education program for three- or four-year-olds eligible if they are age-eligible on September 1. Kindergarten enrollment is for Chicago residents who are five years old on or before September 1, and most enrollment occurs in the summer; Accelerated Kindergarten placement is available via GoCPS. Schedule a PK tour to learn more, and prepare enrollment documentation in advance. Neighborhood boundary rules apply for enrollment at Ogden Elementary, and you can verify whether your address is within the Ogden attendance boundary using the CPS School Locator. Ogden Elementary 8th grade graduates are automatically accepted into Ogden High School, which is the only full-continuum pre-K–12 International Baccalaureate program in Chicago. ⓘ

2) Magnet/Selective Enrollment and other GoCPS waitlists. Waitlists are annually established by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or designee for magnet schools and programs; they remain in effect until the end of the GoCPS school year and offers to waitlisted applicants are managed in waitlist order. For both entry-level and non-entry-level seats, siblings and staff preferences are used in waitlists, and principals may have limited discretionary seats only for selective enrollment high schools. Under the single-offer model, only one offer is made per round, there is no guarantee more than one round of admission will be necessary, and schools must contact waitlisted families in order of the established waitlists.
